  • To establish public utility facilities with the permission of the Government and run programmes like health check-ups, family welfare, reproductive and child health, etc.
  • To bring about social, moral, intellectual, educational and characteristic development of women, men, boys and girls and establish and run free of cost educational institutions from primary to higher levels.
  • To run free of cost programmes like adult education, non-formal education, education for all, sarva shiksha abhiyan, accelerated women literacy and other programmes run by the Education Department.
  • To work for the welfare of economically backward groups like minorities, backward classes and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  • To run free of cost programmes like family welfare, leprosy, pulse polio, UPHSDP, NRHM and AYUSH.
  • To work for making usar and barren land productive and impart free of cost information to the farmers about new agricultural tools.
  • To make efforts for ending pollution through environment and plantation.
  • To arrange balwadi, anganwadi and adult education centres and carry out extension activities regarding women and child development projects.
  • To carry out extension activities for departments concerned with people's development and implement them.
  • To work for development and preservation of arts of the Himalayan region.
  • To promote national integration by organising events targeted at youth.
  • To conduct free of cost training and educational programmes for Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
  • To work for consumer protection.
  • To spread awareness about HIV and AIDS
  • To arrange vocational training for educated unemployed boys and girls.
  • To promote agro-forestry, land improvement, farming of medicinal and aromatic plants, etc.
  • To promote fruit preservation.
  • To arrange free residence, education and training for the disabled.
  • To establish destitute homes, women homes, old age homes, crèches, family counselling centre, etc.
  • To popularise science and technology at the village level.
  • To run free of cost government welfare programmes.

GVS seeks to empower resource poor community to organise themselves in a collaborative spirit, develop, manage and run welfare programmes/schemes for the larger benefit of the community and help them join the mainstream of the society
