Education
GVS ran Residential Bridge Centres various places in the operational area:
- Alampur Jafarabad block in Bareilly district
- Aonla tehsil in Bareilly district
- Palia Kalan block in Kheri district
These centres were run under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with support from the District Basic Education Officer. Each centre catered to 60 out of school children in 11-14 years age groups and after their stint the children were admitted to the nearest government primary schools.
Literacy
The organisation held a five-day literacy campaign in Tharu tribal area of Kheri district from June 26, 2007 to June 30, 2007. During this campaign the organisation workers advised the parents in Kiratpur, Sedavoda, Bangawan and Kajaria villages to send their non-school going children to schools. While doing so, emphasis was laid on sending girls to the schools. Self help groups played crucial role in spearheading literacy campaign.
