Self Help Group Formationlivelihood

During the recent three year period, 28 self help groups (SHGs) have been formed in Pasgawan and Palia Kalan blocks of Kheri district. These SHGs have 10 to 20 members. The SHGs have elected their office-bearers (chairpersons, secretaries and treasures). They hold regular meetings and are engaged in regular savings and credit activities. The groups have been given training in group management, income generation activities, vocational training, health and education. Attempts are underway to link these groups with banks for loans and cash and credit limit.

National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme

The organisation held workshops for extension of NREGA in the year 2009-10 and 2008-09 for select audience from Palia Kalan and Pasgawan development blocks of Kheri district. The workshop was attended by gram pradhan, kshettra panchayat members, women, shiksha mitras, ashas and anganwadi workers. Detailed information about NREGA was provided to them.

Vocational and Practical Training

The organisation regularly organises training for women on different trades in various parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to make them self-reliant and self-employed. During the last three years, 2,360 women have benefitted from these training as per details below:

Employment Oriented Training

This is being run at several places in the operational area so as to make women self-reliant and industrious:

  • 180 very poor women belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Minorities in Chonpur village in Alampur Jafrabad region in Bareilly district have been imparted training in soft toys making.
  • 180 poor women in Bhamaura gram panchayat have been imparted training in food processing.
  • 40 poor women from four villages of Pasgawan area of Kheri district have been trained in bari and papad making.

Their self-help groups have been formed and finance is being arranged so they can start their venture and become self-reliant. Thirty women have been nominated in employment service scheme and they have been distributed kit for employment.
